not even rain can stop me

Image
Hello again! This should actually be a post about my second week of meditation. I have to admit that I was kinda sloppy this week. I missed some of my daily sessions, and although I am not proud of it, I managed to do something in compensation. On Saturday, after my mathematics class, I decided to go on a drive. I had no place in mind to be honest. My partner in crime was the one that decided we should go to a nice place with an amazing view. So, we choose the  Uz Valley Dam . It was my first time there, and I can say for sure that it will not be my last. The view is great as I have stated above. The weather was not very photo-friendly as it rained all day, and the forest was covered in fog. However, I took a few pictures along the way. What does this have to do with my meditation? Meditation is all about the mind. I needed to clear my mind. I needed fresh air. I needed to nourish my hobbies, also good for the heart and mind. In case you have not noticed, my hobbies inc...

my first week of meditation

Image
Hey there! As I have probably already stated before, I am an over-thinker. I tend to be very emotional sometimes and that is not necessarily a bad thing. However, it is not a good thing either and I am constantly researching and working on improving and healing that part of myself. Last week, I began to meditate. I have actually tried it before, but never managed to stick to it. What made me do it this time?  I stumbled upon this app called Headspace . It is an amazing app for beginners. The sessions are 10 minutes each and you are guided through the whole part of them.  Let's talk about my experience through the first week. The hardest part was trying to stay focused through the session. I've learned that meditation is not about destroying or avoiding our bad thoughts. Meditation is about accepting them, and learning to live with them without the constant worry. Sound stupid? Well, it actually worked for me. After each session I felt relieved in some way. I...

2015

Image
Welcome 2015! New year does also mean new things to the blog. A new theme, new projects, new name. But why a new name? The Urban Lioness as an original title of course, but, after doing some research over the internet I found out that couple of people use the exact or similar link or name for their blogs. Since I believe it is not fair to them or to myself to use the name, I have decided to find a new one. I must admit I was trying to play with word in order to obtain something memorable and exquisite. And now I present you: CHICNOTIZED Now, I would like to wish you an amazing, productive, fulfilling and happy year to all of you who read my word. I am going to leave you with a list of resolutions I found on the internet specifically designed for your soul. credit: can't remember were I found this; if this is yours please let me know. Thank you for reading!

last post & christmas recap

Image
With just one day away from the new and exciting 2015, I thought of doing a post related to how I spent my Christmas this year. This is going to end a beautiful and fulfilling year, 2014. As far as it comes to this blog, 2014 was the year of its birth, and I hope 2015 will be a year of growing and evolving. We shall see. Without further ado I present you my Christmas. decor the lights My motto is: ''You can't have a proper Christmas without lights''.  the tree Decorating the tree is my favorite part of the whole decoration process. I love keeping it simple and adding my favorite globes.  gifts I should probably start by stating that there is no intention of bragging here. Presents are a part of Christmas tradition and as my schedule was so busy, I did not have time to take a few shots of the presents that I personally gave to my friends and family. Therefore, I am going to show you just the gifts that I received. There is not too much to s...

tips on how to stay positive and calm

Image
As an over-thinker, I usually struggle with my negative thoughts. Or at least, that is how it used to be. At the moment I am recovering and also improving my mood, after being pretty sad and unmotivated for 1-2 weeks. I am not saying everything is perfect. I am still learning how to control my thoughts, and sometimes my mind slips again into a negative state of mind. But I have accepted that is sometimes normal for me, and I do not stress it as much as I used to. After some research on the internet and from my own experience, I have a learned a few things that calm me and help me stay on track. Keep your mind occupied The bad thoughts usually come to me before I go to sleep or when I am just doing nothing. So even if I feel really lazy or unmotivated I start doing something. For example, I like writing on my blog, preparing future posts, looking at other blogs, watching YouTube videos, taking photos, having nice walks in fresh air, reading, and the list can go on. Even doing my ...

fall details

Image
This post comes after a 1-2 week absence. I've been really busy with school, and everything else in my life. Aside from this post, some new photo shoots are coming soon.  Fall has truly come around here, with all its beauties including the excruciating cold. But actually it's quite fine, I am trying to enjoy it as much as possible with all the stress I have that I am trying to manage. Sometimes, doing creative activities such as decorating my room, really relaxes me and puts me in a good mood. So, I decided to spice up my room a little bit by adding a few fall related accents. Below are a few pictures. See you next post! owl statue // jar with perfumed fake leaves // cozy blanket leaf hooks on my curtain ghost candle holder  Thank you for reading!
