tips on how to stay positive and calm
As an over-thinker, I usually struggle with my negative thoughts. Or at least, that is how it used to be. At the moment I am recovering and also improving my mood, after being pretty sad and unmotivated for 1-2 weeks. I am not saying everything is perfect. I am still learning how to control my thoughts, and sometimes my mind slips again into a negative state of mind. But I have accepted that is sometimes normal for me, and I do not stress it as much as I used to. After some research on the internet and from my own experience, I have a learned a few things that calm me and help me stay on track.
Keep your mind occupied
The bad thoughts usually come to me before I go to sleep or when I am just doing nothing. So even if I feel really lazy or unmotivated I start doing something. For example, I like writing on my blog, preparing future posts, looking at other blogs, watching YouTube videos, taking photos, having nice walks in fresh air, reading, and the list can go on. Even doing my school homework can sometimes help with my over-thinking habit.
Surround yourself with positive people
Some of my friends are really carefree. When I have something that is on my mind, talking to them, and hearing their input make me have a different perspective on the matter that bothers me. They make me see my problems from a more objective perspective. I also like to have my Scottish Fold cat, Diesel, around me when I am feeling down.
Have a cup of tea
Tea has a special place in my heart, so I had to give it a special place in my list. I usually use tea to calm myself after a long day or week. I use tea when I start doing my homework because somehow, having a drink at hand makes me more productive. I really do not think that this can be scientifically proved, but it works for me so I am going to keep doing it.
Motivate yourself
As simple as this concept might seem, it usually works for me. There are a few ways that I motivate myself but I am just going to tell you one. As simple as this concept might seem, it usually works for me. If it does not work for you, you have to find something that does. The internet is full of ideas.
When you have a problem ask yourself this: Can I do something about it?
Yes - Then go do it and stop worrying about it.
No - Then why worry about it at all?
Take a day off
When you really feel like nothing works anymore just take a day off. Disconnect yourself from everything and everyone and just take care of yourself. Take care of your soul and your body and start fresh the next day.
Even if this sounds like a cliché, be happy and stop worrying so much. Life is to short, so spend it on things that really matter to you.
This was more of a personal post and I hope you enjoyed it!
