diy Christmas garland
As you may or may not know, Christmas, and winter holidays in general are my favorite and this is my first year when I actually get to decorate my own and personal room. A post on that is doomed to arrive later this month. For now let's settle with this Christmas garland I made for my nest. It did not turned out as neat as I would've liked but I really enjoy having it on my wall. So here is what I did.
//Preparation//
Firstly, make sure you have everything you need. I also used a ruler and some tape, which are not shown in the picture above. Then, choose your message and make sure you have enough paper. I went for "MERRY CHRISTMAS" but you can do whatever you prefer. For example, for the red part of the garland, which is the majority of it I used 3 pieces of red paper, 5 letters on each.
//The base//
one: fold the paper on the middle so that you get something similar to phase two;
two: measure the paper and split it in 5 pieces, make sure to use a pencil to mark your measurements
three: cut your paper accordingly to your measurements and all your pieces should look like the one above
//Make the letters//
Use the word editor on your computer to make your letters. Make sure to choose an appropriate font so that you can cut along the lines. The font I used was Bodoni MT in size 210. Then print and cut them. I tried to find some stickers and I couldn't but maybe you are luckier than me. It is much easier than printing and cutting each of the letters.
//The pattern//
Choose a pattern for the letters. I went with some dark green paper and some checkered green ribbon. Glue them all on your paper according to the patter. I also cut the bottom part of each piece of paper. Make sure to glue the bottoms of the red paper, so that it creates a loop for your chord. This is the best part because this is the part where you can get creative and decorate the garland however you want.
